Cmdr. Bugart is a native of Cocoa Beach, Florida. He is a 1979 graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Technology. Upon graduation, he reported to NAS Pensacola, Florida and later to NAS Kingsville, Texas for flight training. He was designated a Naval Aviator in April 1981.His first assignment after earning his wings was with the Hellrazors of VA 174 at NAS Cecil Field, Florida where he qualified as a Light Attack pilot in the A-7E Corsair II. His first fleet squadron was VA 86 flying from the deck of the USS EISENHOWER(CVN-69) in the Mediterranean Sea. Cmdr. Bugart made two deployments with the Sidewinders as the Schedules, NATOPS and Quality Assurance Officer. During this tour he was selected for transition to the F-14 Tom Cat and was subsequently transferred to the Tophatters VF-14 in Oceana NAS , Virginia, to undergo Tom Cat training. Upon completion of the fleet replacement squadron curriculum, Cmdr. Bugart reported to the Fighter weapons school (Top Gun) . His next assignment was with VF-31 as an instructor pilot and concurrently worked at the new Strike Fighter Weapons School, Atlantic as a weapons and tactics officer. In December 89, he remained at NAS Cecil Field and reported to the Privateers of VFA-132 where he served as Admin, Safety and Operations officer. While completing his department head tour, he made his fourth deployment to the Mediterranean Sea, this time aboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) . He continued his association with NAS Cecil Field from June 92 until January 95 while serving as Safety Officer at Strike Fighter Wing, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Cmdr. Bugart's next assignment was as the Strike Operations Officer aboard the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY, stationed at Mayport, FL, where he served until February 97. He reported for duty as the NAS Cecil Field executive officer in March 1997. Cmdr. Morrison has more than 4200 tactical jet flight hours and more than 700 carrier landings.
